Britain and Poland working together for the security of Europe
The Prime Minister hosted Polish President Andrzej Duda in Downing Street, discussing plans to step up support for Ukraine, increase security cooperation and boost bilateral trade.
- Poland is one of the UK’s closest European allies – we share a common understanding of the threat posed by Putin's Russia, as well as the importance of accelerating defensive support Ukraine and strengthening NATO.
- That is why the Prime Minister yesterday hosted Polish President Andrzej Duda in Downing Street, discussing a Poland-UK Joint Commission to support Ukraine with arms supplies and training, an expansion of our bilateral defence co-operation, a tripling of our humanitarian support for Poland’s response to the refugee crisis to £30 million and plans to boost bilateral trade.
- In the face of Russian aggression, our commitment to European security remains stronger than ever – we are deepening our ties with key allies like Poland and revolutionising our cooperation on defence and security to keep Europe safe.
