July meeting of Copeland Local Committee.

The next meeting of the Copeland local committee of Cumbria County Council will take place on Tuesday 2 July 2019 at 1.45 pm at Cleator Moor Civic Hall and Masonic Centre, Jacktrees Road, Cleator Moor, CA25 5AU.

The meeting will be open to the public.

To confirm as a correct record the minutes of the meeting of the Local Committee held on 21 May 2019

6. COPELAND HIGHWAYS WORKING GROUP 
To consider a report on Highways which provides details of the meeting of the Highways Working Group held on 14 June 2019.

7. AREA PLANNING REPORT
To consider a report which provides Copeland Local Committee with an update on work and activity undertaken to promote and progress Area Planning since the last meeting of Committee. It is also to advise Local Committee on their current budget position.

8. LOCAL COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND LEADERSHIP MEETING
To receive the minutes of the meeting of the Local Committee Chairs and Leadership meeting held on 30 April 2019

9. COPELAND CHAMPIONS UPDATE
To receive updates from the following Copeland Champions:
Armed Forces Champion
Autism Champion
Children’s Champion
Dementia Champion
Fire Champion
Health Champion

10. VERBAL UPDATE FROM MEMBERS ON OUTSIDE BODIES/EXTERNAL COMMITTEES
To receive a verbal update from members serving on any outside bodies/external committees they attend on behalf of Copeland Local Committee.

11. NUCLEAR ISSUES 
To discuss any relevant nuclear issues.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
