A Labour assessment of Jeremy Corbyn

The article "Why you shouldn't vote for Jeremy Corbyn" was published last year in the Spectator.

It was written by a member of the Labour party, who published it anonymously with the help of Nick Cohen, and lists a large number of reasons why he believed that Jeremy Corbyn should not be re-elected leader of the Labour party.

But as Corbyn was indeed re-elected as Labour leader, nearly all of the reasons in the article are now relevant to the question of whether a floating voter who might be considering voting for the Labour party in the 2017 general election should not do so for as long as Jeremy Corbyn remains leader.

However much the Labour candidates concerned might wish to present matters otherwise,

* A vote for Labour candidate John Woodcock in Barrow & Furness is a vote for Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister, John McDonnell as Chancellor, Diane Abbott as Home Secretary and Emily Thornberry as Foreign Secretary.

* A vote for Labour candidate Gillian Troughton in Copeland is a vote for Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister, John McDonnell as Chancellor, Diane Abbott as Home Secretary and Emily Thornberry as Foreign Secretary.

* A vote for Labour candidate Sue Hayman in Workington is a vote for Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister, John McDonnell as Chancellor, Diane Abbott as Home Secretary and Emily Thornberry as Foreign Secretary.

I was reading though the lib dem manifesto during my lunch break today. well that one is just as riveting. I wonder if there will be another General Election if this one does not go their way. Inheritance tax to pay for it hmmm, £7 billon more in education (from where) ban diesel cars, free childcare, the more i read of it the worse it gets.


Do you know i think the conservativs could win this if they realease a 6 word manifesto. Just point links to the labour and lib dem ones and say

"We wont do any of that"

Quite. And the Lib/Dems have spent their 1pm on income tax nearly as many times as the Labour party has spent the tax revenue they think (wrongly) they will get from reversing cuts in CGT.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
