The Brexit choice at this election

Since the expression "#GetBrexitDone" seems to trigger a lot of people I have been trying to find a form of words which no reasonable person could object to to describe the Brexit choice at this election.

IF YOU WANT BREXIT TO HAPPEN you should vote Conservative.

Under a majority Conservative government Britain will leave the EU, with a deal, by 31st January.

IF YOU WANT TO STOP BREXIT you should vote Liberal Democrat.

The Lib/Dem policy is to revoke Article 50 and scrap Brexit.

As their ally, the former Green MP Caroline Lucas put it, this is effectively telling 17.4 million people that the Lib/Dems don't give a f*** about how those people voted but that is their policy.

IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ARGUING ABOUT WHETHER TO LEAVE FOR MONTHS,

and have another referendum, you should vote Labour.

I object to your choice of words during the introduction of this blog post.

The word trigger is a name for an event which causes a person with PTSD to relive extensively traumatic experiences. It's common in post war soldiers, also victims of violent crime. The classic example of a trigger would be a car backfiring, causing a former soldier to relive a battle, leading to trauma, nausea and sweating immediately, then anxiety, hypervigilance, fear and anger for weeks or months after.

People dont get ptsd because a democratic vote did not go as they would have liked, and being reminded of the results of a democratic vote or election is not a blooming trigger.

I assume (and hope) there is a degree of tongue in cheek, there, Jim.

The word "trigger" is used casually to indicate that something causes a group of people to get very cross. The expression or tag #GetBrexitDone seems to have that effect on a significant number of hardline remain supporters.

That's the sense in which I used it and if I really caused any offence to anyone I apologise.
