Maintaining Britain's support for Ukraine

Yesterday the Prime Minister spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to congratulate Ukraine’s brave armed forces for successfully pushing back Russia’s invading army in a number of areas and to recognise the huge humanitarian challenges Putin has inflicted on the Ukrainian people.

  • New footage displaying the scale of the humanitarian suffering caused by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is harrowing and we must continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian people.
  • Speaking yesterday, the Prime Minister and President Zelenskyy agreed on the need to continue to rachet up sanctions and increase defensive support. Whilst Ukrainian troops have pushed back invading Russian forces in a number of areas, the Prime Minister recognised the huge challenges that remain, as well as the suffering being experienced by civilians.
  • Britain will remain steadfast in our commitment to continuing to support Ukraine defensively, diplomatically, politically and economically.
