A digital plan for Britain's borders
Priti Patel, the Home Secretary has set out her plan for a digital revolution of our borders as part of a New Plan for Immigration - another step forwards in making our country as secure as possible with borders the British people have confidence in
- In 2019 the British people made it clear that they want us to take back control of our borders. Britain has now left the EU, so that the "free movement" rules no longer apply, and introduced a points based immigration system, but will now go further.
- The next step is to introduce a fully digital border system which will allow Britain to act quickly to deny entry to foreign criminals, make the system easier to navigate for businesses, create the ability to count people in and out of the UK, and streamline the process for coming to the UK legally.
- The government will also continue to clamp down on people smugglers and the criminal gangs behind illegal migration, making our borders secure and delivering on the people's priorities.
