More competition in the UK digital economy
This week saw the announcement of new proposals to increase competition in the UK’s digital economy, making sure the public gets the best services at fair prices.
- The UK tech scene is thriving – but we need to make sure British firms have a level playing field with existing tech giants.
- That is why the government is proposing new powers for the digital markets watchdog, so they will be able to suspend, block and reverse decisions by tech giants, as well as issue fines of up to 10 per cent of turnover for serious breaches.
- These reforms will help to champion competition in our tech sector – protecting consumers and boosting the UK’s start up scene.
