Latest growth figures

New figures released this morning show that the UK economy is continuing to grow by 1.3 percent in the last quarter, and this puts Britain on the path to recovery as we build back better from the pandemic.

  • Thanks to the success of Britain's vaccine programme, we have been able to ease coronavirus restrictions and now have one of the most open economies and societies in Europe.
  • And we are seeing the benefits of that approach – with new figures showing that our economy grew by 1.3 per cent between July and September this year - meaning our GDP is now almost back to pre-pandemic levels.
  • We must not be complacent, but this suggests that our plan for jobs is helping businesses to recover from the pandemic – and we will continue to work towards creating a strong economy that delivers high wage, high productivity, and high skilled jobs for everyone.
