The final day of COP 26

At the start of the final day of the COP26 summit, the UK is urging countries to strain every sinew so we can keep 1.5 degrees alive and protect our planet for future generations.

  • Whilst we have made progress throughout the summit, we are not there yet on the most crucial issues. There is still a lot more work to be done, and COP26 is scheduled to close today.
  • We have a monumental challenge ahead of us, but collectively we have no choice but to rise to that challenge and strain every sinew to achieve a timely outcome that we can all be proud of. We need to pull out all the stops to keep 1.5 alive and make Paris the success the world needs it to be.
  • Whatever the outcome is, it will belong to all of us – which is why we are urging world leaders to act now to save the planet for future generations.
