latest UK growth figures

Figures released this morning show the UK economy grew by 0.5 per cent in May – but we must not be complacent. I will be listening very carefully to what the candidates for PM are saying about how Britain can address our long-standing problem of low productivity.

The government must, and I believe will,  continue to take action to grow our economy and support families with the cost of living.

  • Britain's economy grew by 0.5 per cent in May after a bounce back across all three main sectors of the economy – but people across the country are still struggling with costs, and we must not be are not complacent.
  • That is why the government continues to support households through our £37 billion cost of living package, as well as supporting our economy to grow further and working alongside the Bank of England to bear down on inflation.
  • Alongside the cost of living support and the Plan for Jobs, Conservatives are working to create a stronger economy for everyone across the country.
