There is no justification for another Scottish Independence referendum

When the sun rises in the East, the SNP will always find some way to make this an argument for Scottish Independence.

If the sun ever rose in the West, the SNP would find some way to make this an argument for Scottish Independence

If one day the sun  never rose at all, the SNP would find some way to make this an argument for Scottish Independence,

Despite the clear verdict of the 2014 referendum which was supposed to be "once in a generation" according to both sides, and the polls showing that the vast majority of the Scottish people do not agree with the Scottish First Minister's proposal to hold another referendum next year, the First minister continues to promote these divisive ideas.

The Scottish government's formal request for another referendum did have to be answered, and so this week the Prime Minister wrote to Nicola Sturgeon, confirming now is not the time to return to a divisive referendum on Scotland’s future.

  • Now is not the time to return to a question which was clearly answered by the people of Scotland in 2014 – a once in a generation vote on the future of Scotland in the UK.
  • That is why the Prime Minister called on the Scottish Government to focus on working collaboratively with the UK Government in the best interests of the people of Scotland, to ease the cost of living, support our NHS, and play their part in our response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  • The people of Scotland deserve better than the SNP’s obsession over a previously answered question – the focus now must be on cooperating to ease the cost of living and recovering from the pandemic.
