New booster jab approved by the MHRA

Yesterday Britain became the first country to approve a dual vaccination that directly targets both Omicron and the original Covid-19 virus - keeping people safe and building Britain’s resilience.  

  • Although cases of Covid-19 are relatively low at present, we must not be complacent in building Britain’s resilience to the virus. 
  • So it is great new that Britain's experts on the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have  approved a dual vaccine that directly tackles both Omicron and the original Covid-19 virus, making Britain the first country to achieve this. 
  • I shall certainly take up the booster job when it is offered to me, and I - and more importantly, almost all medical professionals - strongly encourage those at higher risk of severe illness to get a booster jab in good time before the winter season.
  • Getting a booster jab will increase your protection against being severely ill from Covid-19, while also protecting those around you, as we move into winter.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
