Raising the Personal Allowance
This is what has been achieved on raising personal tax-free allowances under the coalition government, taking millions of people out of the tax net, and what the Conservatives will do to raise them further if we are in government again:
I see that one of two Lib/Dems have been accusing the Conservatives of being "cheeky" for proclaiming this. Now I freely admit that the Lib/Dems had a particularly radical policy to raise tax-three thresholds and have argued strongly for it. If the Conservatives were going around pretending that we had had to fight for this against Lib/Dem opposition, that would be untrue and wrong. I have not heard anyone saying that.
But both parties in the coalition agreed to a programme which has included big rises in these thresholds, a policy which is working, and both are entitled to claim a share of the credit. And because we have seen it working, the Conservatives will take the policy further forward if we are in government after the election whether we are still in a coalition or not.

keeping fuel duty overly high was a bad idea and it did not help much so that should be fixed, as it would raise more than it costs.
its not about who's ideas were whos and record we should defend to the death. Its about which policies were good and worked and which ones were really bad and should be reversed. That would halp alot.
Rather than looking around for who is to blame, and who is a hero, just look at where we are and where we want to be and the best way of getting there.
