Blueprint for a low-carbon future
Today the UK government published a major new blueprint to deliver the world’s first low carbon industrial sector, creating green jobs and slashing emissions as we build back greener.
- Britain was the first major economy to put into law our target to end our contribution to climate change by 2050 – but if we are to meet our ambitious targets, we must take action now.
- That is why, building on the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan for a green industrial revolution, we have published a new Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy that will champion low carbon industries across the UK, creating and supporting 80,000 new green jobs over the coming decades, while also directing £1 billion to cut emissions from industry, NHS hospitals, schools and other public buildings.
- These measures will help us to deliver on our promise to cut carbon emissions, while boosting our economy and industrial base as we build back better and greener.
