Helping rough sleepers
The government announced today that thousands of rough sleepers will be supported with £212 million investment in homes – enabling people who sleep rough to be housed in secure accommodation as part of our ongoing mission to end rough sleeping.
- Since the start of the pandemic, the government has taken action to protect rough sleepers - as we work to deliver on our manifesto commitment to end rough sleeping for good.
- For the next stage of Britain's biggest ever investment in accommodation for rough sleepers, the government is investing £212 million into making homes available in every region of England. Through this scheme, rough sleepers will be supported by specialist staff to access the help they need, such as support for mental health or substance misuse needs, so they can move towards training and work, and finding a permanent home.
- This funding is a further opportunity to end rough sleeping, with longer-term solutions to protect rough sleepers from returning to the streets.
