The Public Order Bill
Yesterday, the Public Order Bill received Royal Assent, bringing into law powers for the police to protect the public from the misery of protest disruption created by a small minority of activists.
- Selfish, disruptive protesters are using guerilla tactics to wreak havoc in people’s everyday lives across the country – and this must be brought to a stop.
- On top of these new powers, the Conservatives are bringing forward a new Statutory Instrument under the Public Order Bill to clearly define ‘serious disruption’ as requested by police chiefs, empowering police to intervene against these highly disruptive tactics used to block roads and cause chaos.
