Coronavirus diary, day 70

The Whitehaven News posted a tribute today to all the innocent victims who died in Derrick Bird's murder spree which was ten years ago yesterday.

Just about every member of the community in West Cumbria either knew one of his victims personally, or knew someone who did.

It was an event which showed the best and worst of humanity - the worst being the capacity for senseless violence which Bird demonstrated, the best being the courage shown by unarmed members of the emergency services, including doctors, police officers and firemen who were willing to put themselves at risk to protect the community either by helping Bird's victims or trying to stop him.

Keep Well.
