The Covid Summer Food Fund

This week the Government announced it will be providing a Covid Summer Food Fund to help support disadvantaged children during the summer months, as we continue to support families during this unprecedented time.

  • The government welcome Marcus Rashford’s contribution to this vital issue, and  understand that families are facing an entirely unprecedented situation over the summer while we work towards getting all pupils back into school in September.

  • To reflect this, the government is launching a Covid Summer Food Fund, which will provide food vouchers covering the six-week holiday period to eligible families at the end of the term. This follows on from a £63 million fund which the Prime Minister announced last week.

  • The government is committed to ensuring that no child falls behind as a result of coronavirus and will continue to consider what more is needed to support children to make up for time spent out of school.
