Yemen

The Coronavirus pandemic has not, sadly, stopped all the other problems in the world even if it has often sucked attention away from them.

In places it has made them worse and one such place is Yemen.

The above is my own opinion.
What follows is a briefing about what the government is doing about it.

The government has announced a new £160 million package from the aid budget to fight coronavirus and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, helping to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

  • Yemen has long been suffering from the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with millions of people at risk of starvation – and the coronavirus outbreak has now heightened the risk for everyone who lives there.

  • That is why Britain is committing to an extra £160 million of funding for the region to protect vulnerable people, treat children suffering from malnutrition and support millions with improved water and access to basic sanitation.

  • This aid will mean the difference between life and death for thousands of the people of Yemen – protecting them from the threat of coronavirus whilst we work towards bringing an end to this terrible conflict.
