65 foot hole appears in residential St Albans street

A giant hole some 65 feet in diameter and 32 feet deep has appeared in Fontmell Close, St Albans, near Bernard's Heath recreation grounds and a couple of hundred yards from a primary school where my late mother used to teach. It is also near to Healthlands Drive and Heathlands school which have been built on the former Ariston Works site in the vicinity of the former Fire Station.

I am sure measures are being taken to stop anyone falling into the hole, but if they do the ambulance will not have far to go, as St Albans Ambulance station is now located where the fire station used to be, on the other side of Bernard's Heath.
