Targeted Stop and Search to halt knife crime
The government is introducing new, targeted stop and search powers for repeat knife crime offenders - ensuring our police have the powers they need to cut crime and make our communities safer.
- Knife crime has a devastating effect on young lives and our neighbourhoods - we have made it one of our top priorities to give our police the powers they need to tackle it.
- These new Serious Violence Reduction Orders will target repeat offenders, giving the police the ability to perform searches on those who are most likely to be carrying a knife. They will ensure stop and search as a whole becomes much more targeted.
- By giving our police the targeted powers they need, we can ensure that they have the resources they need to bear down on violent crime and help make our communities safer.
