Let's be honest: not one of the UK's major political parties comes well out of what happened with this year's student grades.
Pretty much the same mistakes were made by the Conservatives in England, the SNP in Scotland, Labour and the Lib/Dems in Wales and the NI parties in Northern Ireland.
Anyone in any of these parties who is trying to score points over it needs to take the beam out of their own eye: I think we all need to learn from it and make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Starting with getting students back to school, in a way which keeps them and teachers as safe as possible, in September.

Below is the official line: just so there is no-misunderstanding, students will get whichever is higher out of the teacher-assessed grades and those previously awarded.
