- Our country’s outdated planning system has been a barrier to building affordable homes where families want to raise children and build their lives. It has caused delays to the infrastructure projects that come with new housing, new hospitals, new schools and improved roads while restrictions have left derelict buildings and empty shops on our high streets.
- We believe an ambitious response is needed to match the scale of the challenge in front of us, and that is why we are bringing forward radical and necessary reforms to deliver a simpler, faster and people-focused system to deliver the homes and places we need. We will cut the red tape, but not standards – and in doing so, will create thousands of new jobs from bricklayers to architects as we get Britain building.
- These once in a generation reforms will help us build the homes our country desperately needs, allow high streets to adapt and evolve and ensure our communities are served with the vital infrastructure they need – helping us deliver on our commitment to level up and unleash opportunity across every region of our country.
